Keyword gap analysis that finds the keywords your competitors own

Your competitors already rank for keywords you have never targeted. SeoData compares your domain with theirs, sorts every keyword into missing, weak, shared and untapped, and shows which gaps are worth closing first.

Four lists that turn into a content plan

ListWhat it meansWhat to do
MissingAll competitors rank, you do notPlan a new page
WeakYou rank lower than every competitorImprove the page you have
SharedYou and the competitors all rankDefend and refresh
UntappedAt least one competitor ranks, you do notCheck fit and difficulty

Every keyword in the lists carries volume, difficulty, intent, CPC and the position of each domain, so you can sort by opportunity instead of reading raw lists.

Strengths worth keeping

SeoData also lists the keywords where you rank and the competitors do not. These are your strengths. Protect them in reporting and link the pages internally so they keep their positions.

From domains to a prioritized gap list

  1. Enter your domain and the competitors you want to compare. Not sure who they are? The competitor analysis tool suggests them from shared keywords.

  2. Choose the market and device.

  3. SeoData collects the ranking keywords of every domain from licensed data partners and our own crawler that respects robots.txt, then matches them.

  4. Filter by intent, difficulty, position range or word count.

  5. Send the chosen keywords to a project, to position tracking or to an export.

Each keyword includes a link to the full SEO keyword analysis view with the live results page.

Where keyword gap analysis pays off

  • In-house teams planning the next quarter of content, who need proof that a topic already brings traffic to someone else.
  • Agencies onboarding a client, where the gap report becomes the first strategy document.
  • Content managers who want briefs tied to keywords with clear commercial intent.
  • Consultants auditing a site before a redesign or a migration.

Reading the gap the right way

Start with the missing list filtered to commercial and transactional intent. These keywords bring buyers to your competitors today. Then check difficulty: a missing keyword under your usual ceiling is a quick win. Move to the weak list next, because improving an existing page is often faster than writing a new one. Treat untapped keywords as ideas that need a fit check, since a single competitor may rank by accident. Our AI SEO recommendations turn the strongest gaps into a ranked list of tasks.

Keyword gap questions

How many competitors can I compare?

Up to 2 on Starter, 4 on Pro, 5 on Agency and 10 on Enterprise, in a single report next to your own domain.

Does a gap report count against my lookups?

Each report counts as one domain lookup for every domain in it. Opening keyword details from the report counts as keyword lookups.

Can I export the gap lists?

Yes. Every list exports to CSV and Excel, and Pro, Agency and Enterprise plans can include it in scheduled PDF reports.
