Find backlinks of competitors and turn them into prospects

The sites that already link to your competitors are the most likely to link to you. SeoData compares your backlink profile with up to ten competitors, shows the referring domains you are missing and turns them into a prospect list your team can work through.

Competitor backlink analysis with link intersect

Enter your domain and the competitors you want to compare. SeoData lines up their referring domains side by side and marks where each one links.

  1. Domains that link to two or more competitors but not to you
  2. Domains that link to one competitor only, sorted by domain strength
  3. Domains that already link to you, so you can skip them
  4. The exact linking page, anchor and attribute for every match
  5. New links competitors won in the last 30 days, a sign of active campaigns

How the comparison works

SeoData pulls the backlink profile of each domain from licensed data partners and our own crawler that respects robots.txt. It then groups links by referring domain and checks each domain against your own profile. A site that links to three competitors on the same topic is a stronger prospect than one that links to a single rival from a sitewide footer, so SeoData ranks prospects by how many competitors they link to, their domain strength and whether the links are dofollow.

Choose the right competitors

Pick sites that rank for the same keywords as you, not only the companies you sell against. If you are unsure, the competitor analysis tool suggests domains that share your rankings.

From matches to a prospect list

Select the domains worth pursuing and save them as a prospect list inside the project. Each prospect keeps the linking pages that point to competitors, so whoever writes the outreach knows the context. Add a status and a note, assign a teammate and filter the list by status.

ColumnWhat it holds
Referring domainThe site that links to your competitors
Domain strengthOur 0 to 100 score for the referring domain
Competitors linkedWhich of your competitors it links to
Linking pagesThe pages with the links, with anchors
Link attributeDofollow, nofollow, sponsored or UGC
StatusNew, contacted, replied, won or skipped

Export for outreach

Export a prospect list to CSV with every column above, ready for your outreach tool or spreadsheet. When a prospect links to you, backlink monitoring picks up the new link and marks the prospect as won, so the list stays current without manual checks.

Competitor backlink questions

How many competitors can I compare at once?

Starter compares 2 competitors, Pro 4, Agency 5 and Enterprise 10 in one report.

Do competitors know I am looking at their links?

No. SeoData reads public link data. Nothing is sent to the domains you analyze.

Is a site that links to every competitor always a good prospect?

Not always. Directories and sitewide footers often link to everyone. Check domain strength, link attribute and the linking page before you add a prospect to the list.

Can I see a competitor's full backlink list too?

Yes. Open any competitor in the backlink checker for the full profile, anchors and lost links.
